Laiken and Jon
It seems like such a long time ago that this picture was taken.
We hadn't even moved into the Villa yet.
I'm sure last Spring these two knew they'd soon be
husband and wife.
Even after Jon moved to St. George
they didn't go more than two weeks without seeing each other.
The next picture I took of them together
was for wedding announcements!
That was a fun day.
The more time I spent with Jon the more I liked him.
I learned he could change a tire.
What else is there?
Let's do this thing!
Laiken wanted her wedding to feel vintage.
What's more vintage than wearing your
great grandmother's wedding dress?
So we had grandma Francis's dress cleaned and pressed.
Laiken's grandma Shore also wore this dress.
It was very special to see her wear it
and it was a central part of the wedding.
Laiken and I made her hair piece and bouquet.
We found the perfect champagne colored shoes to match her dress.
Lisa Mae found the perfect hairstyle.
After two hair consultations...
...Lisa Mae was ready for the big day.
Lisa Mae was so sweet.
We had so much fun at the salon
I could have easily made an entire post just
of our many hours there.
After Laiken found the right lipstick it was all business.
We have work to do. No more messing around!
The Caldwell Train Depot
We found a great venue where we could dance and eat.
A train went pass just before and just after the ceremony.
It was cozy in there. We had chairs set up for 116 people.
The capacity for the ceremony room was 40.
We had a lot of planning to do.
Decorations to make.
We had a lot of help making over 75 hanging lanterns.
I'm so glad we did them, they were really cool.
Cookies and biscotti to bake.
Mom spent days baking and frosting cinnamon rolls.
We personalized 250 cups for the cocoa bar.
Arron cut the wood for all the center pieces.
He also made the cake stands.
He was having so much fun with the chain saw he
also made a door hanging.
My dear friend Raquel made all the framed
photos for each table.
While Laiken and I were at the hair salon
and getting her dressed,
my family set up and decorated the entire depot.
I am so grateful for all the help.
My sister in-laws saw to every detail.
Cousin Lili, helping her aunts set the food table.
Erick and Caleb helped Arron with the stereo system,
all the construction and heavy lifting.
Quint and Devin ran for last minute items and picked up
all rentals.
This wedding was really a family affair!
Everything seemed in order.
Laiken and I were all alone at the Villa,
getting her dress on.
Arron was stuck at the Depot doing last minute fixes.
So I was going to bring his and Skye's suit
so they could change for pictures.
As Laiken and I are driving to the Depot
her dress tears.
Ever notice how tear and tears are spelled the same?
I told Laiken not to cry,
we didn't need her make-up ruined.
She called grandma Ekin and told her to get
the sewing machine out.
I turned the truck around and within minutes
we were standing at mom's kitchen table,
while she fixed Laiken's vintage wedding gown.
